TransRe (Transatlantic Reinsurance Company) is a leading global property and casualty reinsurer, offering treaty and facultative reinsurance across a wide range of sectors, including aviation, cyber, health, and liability. Headquartered in New York and operating in over 20 countries, TransRe is known for its underwriting expertise, market insights, and strong financial backing as a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. With approximately $5.9 billion in annual premiums and an AA+ financial strength rating, the company plays a key role in global risk management. It is led by Ken Brandt as Chairman, President & CEO, and continues to expand its global presence and product innovation.
Trans Re aimed to enhance their thought leadership and sought to strengthen their early talent acquisition. Although they had an internal research team, they needed upcoming researchers with expertise in sectors like solar, wind, hydro, biomass, and geothermal. Their goal was to gain fresh perspectives, identify and nurture talented individuals for a future talent pipeline, and ultimately make future full-time hires.
Instead of relying on traditional methods, they partnered with StudentVenture to build bespoke teams of students specifically tailored to the projects requirements.

We selected a handful of matched students from UK universities to take a deep-dive into renewable energy.
Our solution was to deploy our perfectly matched student researchers, and graphic designer to create innovative, detailed, data-backed, and engaging research reports that would add value and contribute to the reinsurers thought leadership and talent pipeline.
The Research Reports are detailed (30+ pages long), innovative, engaging, data-backed, and speak to the needs of their internal stakeholders.
Trans Re decided to create a second paper which was an in-depth research report around solar energy.
